GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This is taken from the TICA Standard of the Sphynx.
The Sphynx appears to be a hairless cat,although it is not truly hairless. The skin should have the texture of a chamois.
It may be covered with very fine down which is almost imperceptible to both the eye and the touch. On the ears, muzzle, tail, feet and scrotum, short, soft, fine hair is allowed.
Lack of coat makes the cat quite warm to the touch. Whiskers and eyebrows may be present, either whole or broken, or may be totally absent. The cat should not be small or dainty.
Males may be up to 25 percent larger so long as proper proportions are maintained. TheSphynx is sweet-tempered, lively, intelligent and above all amenable to handling.

The personality traits of a Sphynx is very outgoing,caring about their family, but also vain enough to primp themselves regularly. They love to be held and show affection and can be demanding at times. Their appearance is nearly a hairless body, that has a velvet touch. Large shaped eyes, with full ears and a long ratlike tail. They are medium size, with a look of a pot belly and wrinkled skin is always a plus, especially between the ears and around the shoulders and muzzle. As far as grooming a Sphynx. They require a regular bath, since the lack of hair causes an oily build-up on the skin, especially on the insides of the legs. Baby wipes come in very handy on those days in between their baths and I prefer the type with aloe, which is soothing to the skin. Once you hold a Sphynx and feel the warmth from it's body, you will be spoiled for life. On a cold night their under the covers with us and feels like a homemade hot water bottle. To me a Sphynx is the Ferreri of the Cat World.

Sphynx can make themselves at home anywhere.
